Cast It!

MashCast provides a variety of ways of Casting, or transmitting your media to other members of the MashCast community, and to a variety of locations on the web. You can Cast media from anywhere in the application using the Cast It! buttons located on the Mash and Screen tabs.

During the Cast process, Shows are automatically converted into the format that will yield the highest quality experience for the designated recipient.

Cast It!

Casting combines export, send, and posting functions into one simple integrated workflow that can be initiated by mousing over the Cast It! button and selecting a destination. Cast It! buttons are located to the right of the Timecode Display on the Screen and Mash tabs. Mousing over the Cast It! button will present a menu of active conversations, and a link "To the Web". To create an active conversation, click on the Online Status Indicator to the right of the Information Zone at the top of the application. From the Network List, double click on a peer icon in the friend list. A new conversation tab will open in the main application window. This conversation will also be added to your Cast It! list.

Part of the power of the MashCast system is that Shows can be sent between members and no format conversion is required. This means that the recipient can edit the show and pass it back to you, or on to someone else. When posting to the web, however, a format conversion is often required in order to present your work in a form that other people can see.

Export Show as WMV

While exporting your show as a SWF will frequently yield the highest image quality, not all web portals accept SWF files. If you are posting to YouTube, for example, you will need to export your show as a WMV. To do this, select Export Show>as WMV... from the Stage context menu. The show will be exported as a WMV and you will see the result displayed in the player.

Export Show as JPG

There may be occasions where you will want to render a still frame of a show. To accomplish this, scrub to the desired frame you wish to export, and select "Export Show> as JPG... from the context menu. The still frame will be presented in the Screen tab.

Export Show as SWF

SWF export preserves the resolution of animated images and text. For this reason, SWF is the default export method for the Publish function. To export as SWF, select Export>as SWF... from the Stage context menu. The result will be presented in the Screen tab.
